Born in East Germany to a musician father and an undisclosed sculptor mother, I grew up with five siblings. Culture and, more specifically, music, was our daily nourishment.

The free spirit of the artists was little appreciated, often reduced to silence because overheard. I learned early on to read body language and faces.

Do the face and its expressions reflect the identity of the being? Do they trace its history? Unraveling this complexity is the deep thread of my work.
Even if sketches, drawings and readings precede my work, nothing seems to pre-exist the creation. Everything is revealed in the moment of the act and arises from the material that I have chosen. But a prerequisite is necessary: an initial vacuum.
